The Civil Wars |
Yesterday I talked about band names that I love so today I thought I would share another duo with a unique name, The Civil Wars. The name seems so simple but complex and I seriously LOVE this duo. This duo is more well known than the previous one but unlike Neulore, this band has disbanded and even though they have not released details from the break up you can tell from the aftermath that it was very unpleasant. They technically released 3 albums I believe but the first one was a free online release of a live concert, Live at Eddie's Attic. The next two were Barton Hollow and The Civil Wars. The Live album and Barton Hollow do have some of the same songs on them. They did perform for other albums though. The duo consists of Joy Williams from California and John Paul White from Alabama. I have a little extra fondness for JPW because he is from Muscle Shoals but currently resides in Florence and I spent a lot of my childhood in that area because my grandmother lived there. Both musicians had a music career prior to becoming a duo. Joy was a Christian artist and JPW had released one album. I will discuss both of them in the next few days. They both seem to be continuing their solo careers after disbanding the band. Joy has released a solo album and JPW has been busy doing other things in the music industry but recently a concert was posted online of an albums worth of new music, so I have my fingers crossed about that. I was lucky enough to see The Civil Wars perform in Nashville, TN before they were more known and let me tell you, they were amazing. I loved the intimacy of the small setting over a huge venue.
